Test whether your body is ready for an IVF embryo transfer

Our test assesses whether your uterus is receptive to embryo implantation at this time.

The ReceptIVFity-test provides insight into your fertility prospects.

What does the ReceptIVFity test measure?

Microbiome analysis

The test examines the composition of the bacteria in the vagina (the vaginal microbiome) using bacterial DNA.

Insight into the chance of implantation

Based on the microbiome, the test determines whether conditions in the uterus are favorable for embryo implantation at that time.

Support with the next step

You can discuss the results with your doctor to determine the right next step in your IVF journey at that time.

What could this test mean for my IVF journey?

Timing is everything

Only 1 in 3 IVF attempts is successful. An important factor is timing: at the time of embryo transfer, the uterine lining may not be receptive to implantation.

Your window is unique

The time when the uterine lining is receptive is called the implantation window. In 30% of women, this differs from the standard protocol. ReceptIVFity maps your personal implantation window.

Insight creates opportunities

Insight into your personal implantation window shifts the focus from ‘Why isn’t it working?’ to ‘What is the right time for me?

The result

Together with your doctor, you will discuss your personal results and decide whether it is best to proceed immediately or postpone a cycle.

How does the ReceptIVFity home test work?

As soon as the test arrives, we get to work and analyze it in our laboratory.

In the laboratory, the vaginal sample is analyzed to determine whether the uterus is receptive to embryo implantation at that time. The ReceptIVFity test provides insight into the conditions for embryo implantation and helps determine a suitable time for embryo transfer.

Once we have finished analyzing your test, you will receive the results through this website. Analysis usually takes 5 business days from the time it arrives at our laboratory. You can then access your results using the code included with your test. We will prepare a report containing all the information your fertility doctor needs.

Testimonials

Researchers speak

Every unsuccessful cycle is a disappointment and an emotional burden. The ReceptIVFity test can be a valuable addition to the diagnostic process for a selected group of patients, particularly for better timing of treatment. It helps target cycles more effectively and thereby prevent unnecessary disappointment.

Drs. W.J.S.S. Cuypers, gynaecologist-VPG

I think that if our results continue to be as good as they are now, the ReceptIVFity test will be a very good tool for selecting the cycles with the best chances. In other words, you can achieve the desired result without going through unnecessary cycles. Every cycle you undergo without becoming pregnant is another disappointment, and this test can help you avoid many of those disappointing cycles.

There is increasing evidence that a healthy vaginal microbiome is associated with a greater chance of success with IVF. Receptivfity is one of the most scientifically supported and user-friendly tests in this field, and we are delighted to be able to offer it at London Women’s Clinic.

You can decide in consultation with your doctor whether you want to take the test. The test is very simple, has no side effects, and the results are available relatively quickly. It gives you insight into the likelihood that an embryo transfer will result in a pregnancy. The test result is valid for the next two months. The test acts as a “timing tool”: you can base your decision about whether to proceed with an embryo transfer at that time on the test result. Treatment is often postponed until a later date when the score is low. Please note: All decisions are entirely yours.

At the moment, patients have to pay for the test themselves. Of course, reimbursement by health insurers is an ongoing development. So always check with your doctor or insurer to see whether the test may be reimbursed for you.

The test costs €399 (including VAT) in the online store. If you get the test through your clinic, the cost may vary depending on any additional consultation fees. Ask your clinic for the exact price.

You can check here to see where the test is available.

The test is packaged in a small box, which you receive from your doctor or order yourself through the webshop. It contains a long cotton swab and a tube of liquid (buffer). You take the vaginal swab yourself. This means using the cotton swab to collect some vaginal mucus. Clear instructions are included. You then place the cotton swab (swab) in the tube of liquid.

If you received the test from your doctor, return it to them. They will ensure it is sent to the laboratory correctly for analysis.
For a home test, follow the instructions to send the collected sample back to the lab, and you can request the results yourself. Take the results to your doctor.

Since you can also order the test for home use, you could do that. However, it is important to discuss the timing of the test with your doctor first.

No, only a small amount of vaginal mucus is collected from you and analyzed.
Collecting vaginal mucus is very straightforward with the cotton swab. The cotton swab is suitable for self-collection. The advanced processing and analyses are carried out in the laboratory.
The results will be sent to your doctor after about a week. If you take the test at home, you can request the results yourself after about a week.
The test result is validated for two months from the date the test is taken. Over time, the composition of bacteria can change. So it can certainly be useful to take the test again after some time to see whether the timing is more suitable for an embryo transfer. You can discuss this with your doctor.

Yes, the test is anonymous. This means that the sample collected contains only a unique number. If you received the test through your doctor, your doctor knows that the number belongs to you. The laboratory and ARTPred staff only see the number, and never your personal details.

For a home test, you have the unique number, which you can use to access your results (so make sure you keep this number safe!). In this case too, the laboratory and ARTPred staff only see the number, never your personal details.
